The Cat Whispurrer [userpic]
Going back to school and need help!
by The Cat Whispurrer (freyas_fire)
at January 18th, 2011 (07:53 pm)

Hoping this post is OK - I am hopefully going back to school in February for certification in Medical Front Office with Billing and Coding. I am currently unemployed and the school is a 60 mile commute round trip. I am running sales on both of my online shops indefinitely to stockpile some funds for gas money and other expenses, plus I'm going through an incredibly tough time financially right now. I just need to survive the next few months so I can get my life back.

Jewelry, glass art, some kitty toys, and crocheted fingerless gloves are on the Etsy shop. The crocheted stuff and the cat toys will be transferred to Artfire when the listings expire. Use coupon code SNOWSTINKS20 to get 20% off your order.

My Artfire store is brand new and could really use some sales there to boost more interest in the shop. This shop features my uber-potent, 100% organic catnip herbal blend kitty toys. My friends have lovingly nicknamed my catnip blend "kitty crack," and swear that their cats that normally turn a nose up to plain catnip go nuts over these toys. They are sturdy and can handle rough play from a multiple cat household. There is a storewide 20% off sale there as well - no coupon needed.

Custom orders are kinda iffy at the moment - it depends on what item you're looking at. Once school starts, I probably won't have time to do any custom work until I graduate. Feel free to email or convo me with questions.

Also, if you would like items from both shops, go ahead, place the orders, pay via paypal, then email me or convo me, especially if you have 2 different screen names for each site. I will then combine packaging/shipping and refund any difference over a dollar. If First Class shipping totals over $5, and the items will fit in a envelope or small box, I can upgrade the shipping to Priority Mail Flat Rate for $4.95 for the flat rate envelope, or $5.20 for the small flat rate box. Please indicate in your email if you'd like that option.

Thank you!!

"Awful!" - that was the first reaction of the people who visited the presentation when they saw "The Ukrainian Potential"

The sculptor stressed that he was inspired to create this work by his recent travelling around Ukraine. "I was shocked of what I saw: ruins, poverty, a total decay. However on TV the politicians tell us that everything is fine and will be even better. But Ukraine is different. Now you will see the way it looks."

With the economy the way it is, and as an artist myself, I know we can all use more venues for our work.

What if we got together and formed an artist’s co-op for the sake of throwing our own art fairs around town? Strip malls and shopping centers might consider us a special attraction and give us a break on space; if our only costs were for table rentals it might be affordable to do it every weekend, or at least once or twice a month.

What do you think? This isn’t something I’d attempt alone, but a group of us acting together would have what it takes to make this work. If you’re interested in getting together to discuss this idea further, please contact me. Or if you know people who might be interested, please spread the word.

Selling Off my entire Print Gocco system and acces
by diana (dianawolf)
at July 5th, 2010 (02:58 pm)

I'm selling a huge lot of Print Gocco including the machine, printer inks etc.
This is one lot- Not breaking up unless it goes to auction.

PrintGocco is a very cool, easy, simple printing tool to print on fabric, paper etc.
You could create your own fabric by printing motifs on either solid or printed fabrics. Great for art-wear, (creat aqppliques or print directly onto already made clothing) art quilting (make your own One of a Kind quilt blocks)
Make fabric books/journals-cards etc.

All of which I intended but haven't gotten to and now need the cash too much to keep it for "someday."

This is a private sale but will list on etsy for buyer if buyer prefers purchasing through a safe venue. Thanks.

I need money quickly before my electricity is turned off!- so I am going to bite the bullet and sell my whole gocco outfit.
Here is what I have:
1. B6 Hi Mesh printer and lamp housing. Gently used- I only burned 2 screens.
2. 8 Hi Mesh screens
3. 3 sleeves of 10 bulbs= 30 bulbs
4. Blue Filter
5. photo-screen
6. 2 card drying racks
7. ink blocking foam
8. Riso Correction Fluid
9. 2 (large?) tubes of screen cleaner
10.8 ink cones
11. 12 full tubes of Riso-Gocco printing ink for paper
2 black
Plus 4 tubes with the boxes written in Japanese
so I'll name the colors as I see them.
a spring kind of green- (mossy-apple-ish-chartrues-y?)
a midnight or indigo blue
an "old dusty rose" or lavender-ish I think

12. 4 partially used tubes from my experiments. Plenty left in them.

13. B-6 stamp kit for cloth includes the stamp pad with grips and 5 tubes of Gocco ink for cloth. Perfect for printing your own original quilt blocks.
I bought for doing mixed media fabric art- This has been used once just to see how it worked.
It did- I didn't! LOL
I experimented with the paper ink on fabric- seemed to work fine. I set with iron and hand washed- looked fine.
14. Carbon marker

I'm asking $320.00 for the whole shebang which includes shipping
Its a pretty good deal considering the price of Gocco supplies.
I usually like to do these sales as whoever contacts me first gets first crack, then second etc. But this time I have to do it as whoever can pay me first gets the stuff.
Sorry, but I'm desperate.
I haven't taken pix yet- will later today.

will be posting on a couple of groups so sorry for the cross post if you belong to them.
Will also be listing on etsy later- probably tomorrow at some point.

Might have a couple of Polaroid cameras for transfers, a windsor (like dianacamera) with a flash and a daylab jr. for sale next week.
trying to make up my mind.

Don't forget I have collage sheets on etsy- have some new ones coming later today.(or tomorrow)
Use them to print on fabric or transfer paper.

Spec Fic Logo Contest
by Ripley Patton (rippatton)
at March 5th, 2010 (09:11 am)

I am currently running a logo contest for the writers association I’ve founded here in New Zealand.

SpecFicNZ will finally launch in 2010 and we need a kick-ass logo to plaster on our website, print on our promotional material, and tattoo on the foreheads of all the Core members.

If you are an artist, a wanna-be-artist, or simply a rad doodler, we would love to see your most creative logo ideas.

Entries are free, easy, and you can make up to five of them.

And the prize for the winner is pretty decent – $140 NZ, a free 6-issue subscription to Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine, and a copy of the book Newton’s Sleep from Random Static Publishing (and, of course, the fame- never forget the fame).

The Contest opens for entries March 15th, 2010, and closes April 15, 2010.

You can find more information and complete contest rules here.

Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" - Yulia Timoshenko
by Polyglot (rerter10)
at September 11th, 2009 (08:16 pm)

Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" and a new sculpture group "Christ's Appearance to the Apostles".

Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" and a new sculpture group "Christ's Appearance to the Apostles". It has taken 15 years for him to create the project with the Twelve Apostles.

In his sculptures Nicolai Shmatko decided to deviate from the Bible apostles known to us. "In this sculpture there are our contemporaries, people who live near us. Only Jesus Christ is an imaginary person as nobody can pretend to be like him. We can also see Peter, his favourite disciple, doubting Thomas and Judas. Among the known Bible persons I have embodied myself and my sons"- Nicolai Shmatko retells.
look a photo
http://www.kingofmarble-shmatko.com/engver/p1_project_en.html The preliminary cost of this sculpture is 1.5 mln. Euro.

The other sculpture of the Nicolai Shmatko "Ukrainian Aurora" has taken him half a year. He retells about it, "Aurora is a morning star which lights up the road of travelers and wayfarers. I decided to accent attention on this and tried to find a woman who can personify national pathos but I could not for a long time. And finally I found national Ukrainian colouring in Julia Timoshenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine".
look a photo
Nicolai Shmatko estimates this sculpture in 500 thousand Euro.

The sculptor noted that he is a non-party man and has not any political sympathies to Julia Timoshenko but her image helped him to create our contemporary Aurora.

New work!
by ravenfrogsuperk (ravenfrogsuperk)
at November 25th, 2008 (10:16 pm)

I just finished updating my Cafe Press site will all the recent goodies I painted. For those that are out of the loop, I broke two of my personal records. One for the number of paintings in a day (13) and the other for the number of paintings in a week (18). So needless to say, it took me two days to get everything loaded to the site. Let me know what you think of the new paintings! http://www.cafepress.com/ravenfrog/

For those that were upset about how quickly the cthulhu painting sold, he's on there too. http://www.cafepress.com/ravenfrog/6233080

Crossed Genres (crossedgenres) is still accepting art submissions for its inaugural issue, to be released December 1! We have our cover art, but we are still looking for black & white inside art.

Submissions should be roughly in the proportions of 8.5” x 11” (can be larger). Any media but photomanips are accepted. Images should be relatively tame (artistic nudity and non-graphic violence are acceptable) and not use previously copyrighted material. Beyond that, so long as they contain at least some element of Science Fiction and/or Fantasy, anything goes!
