Hoping this post is OK - I am hopefully going back to school in February for certification in Medical Front Office with Billing and Coding. I am currently unemployed and the school is a 60 mile commute round trip. The sculptor stressed that he was inspired to create this work by his recent travelling around Ukraine. "I was shocked of what I saw: ruins, poverty, a total decay. However on TV the politicians tell us that everything is fine and will be even better. But Ukraine is different. Now you will see the way it looks."

Mykola Shmatko and his sculpture titled "Among Emperors"
LUHANSK, Ukraine -- A sculptor in the eastern Ukrainian city of Luhansk has unveiled a bronze bust of President Viktor Yanukovych titled "Among Emperors ," RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service reports.
Mykola Shmatko told journalists at the presentation on August 3 that he decided on the title because he sees Yanukovych as one in a series of personalities that includes Roman Emperor Caligula and Alexander the Great.

With the economy the way it is, and as an artist myself, I know we can all use more venues for our work.
What if we got together and formed an artist’s co-op for the sake of throwing our own art fairs around town? Strip malls and shopping centers might consider us a special attraction and give us a break on space; if our only costs were for table rentals it might be affordable to do it every weekend, or at least once or twice a month.
What do you think? This isn’t something I’d attempt alone, but a group of us acting together would have what it takes to make this work. If you’re interested in getting together to discuss this idea further, please contact me. Or if you know people who might be interested, please spread the word.

I'm selling a huge lot of Print Gocco including the machine, printer inks etc.
This is one lot- Not breaking up unless it goes to auction.
PrintGocco is a very cool, easy, simple printing tool to print on fabric, paper etc.
You could create your own fabric by printing motifs on either solid or printed fabrics. Great for art-wear, (creat aqppliques or print directly onto already made clothing) art quilting (make your own One of a Kind quilt blocks)
Make fabric books/journals-cards etc.
All of which I intended but haven't gotten to and now need the cash too much to keep it for "someday."

Nicolai Shmatko has presented his new sculpture "Ukrainian Aurora" and a new sculpture group "Christ's Appearance to the Apostles". It has taken 15 years for him to create the project with the Twelve Apostles.
In his sculptures Nicolai Shmatko decided to deviate from the Bible apostles known to us. "In this sculpture there are our contemporaries, people who live near us. Only Jesus Christ is an imaginary person as nobody can pretend to be like him. We can also see Peter, his favourite disciple, doubting Thomas and Judas. Among the known Bible persons I have embodied myself and my sons"- Nicolai Shmatko retells.

The other sculpture of the Nicolai Shmatko "Ukrainian Aurora" has taken him half a year. He retells about it, "Aurora is a morning star which lights up the road of travelers and wayfarers. I decided to accent attention on this and tried to find a woman who can personify national pathos but I could not for a long time. And finally I found national Ukrainian colouring in Julia Timoshenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine".

The sculptor noted that he is a non-party man and has not any political sympathies to Julia Timoshenko but her image helped him to create our contemporary Aurora.

the magazine of Science Fiction & Fantasy with a twist, is now accepting submissions for our fourth issue. We are looking for Cover art (color) as well as inside art (black & white).
Each month, Crossed Genres chooses a "theme" genre and combines it with Science Fiction and/or Fantasy. Cover Art submissions must have aspects of both the current theme genre and Sci-Fi and/or Fantasy. Inside art can be anything Sci-Fi or Fantasy. The January theme is CRIME.
There are more details available in the submissions guidelines. Please consider making a submission!

I just finished updating my Cafe Press site will all the recent goodies I painted. For those that are out of the loop, I broke two of my personal records.
