As a constituent, an artist, small business (henlestudio.com), and copyright holder, I am asking you to oppose this bill. I have already experienced my artwork being "used" (stolen) by eBay store owners, and Chinese rip-off companies, and do not have means to fight them for what is rightfully mine, as the large companies (like Disney) do.
I'm writing to ask that you oppose S. 2913, the Shawn Bentley Orphan Works Act of 2008. Despite the title of this bill, its effects will not be limited to those works that are true "orphans". Instead, it will affect any citizen's creative work, from professional works of art to Sunday paintings to vacation photos. The issue at stake is not small. This bill is in fact a radical reversal of copyright law and the logic of ownership of personal property.
There are a lot of exciting shows coming up this month. I hope to see you there!

Hi Gang! Some beautiful trims are up for auction and ending this afternoon.Beautiful, heavy and wide vintage Passementerie with raised motifs on aneutral ground. Linen, cotton, gorgeous.http://tinyurl.com/eyrka( A couple more behind the cut.Collapse )Don't miss this stuff. It is very special.I have a few '60s trims coming up soon too.ThanksI have a few different ones in my etsy shop too.My Ebay Auctions http://tinyurl.com/eyrka (listings)http://tinyurl.com/9d3vv (main page)My Etsy Shopswww.geraniumkiss.etsy.comwww.missmellie.etsy.comI try not to cry about everything I've done wrong she said, because I don't get enough fluids as it is already.
I am looking for BIG, round amber cabs. They need to be between 1 inch (23mm) and 1.5 inches (35mm). And round. I have no preferences as far as low or high dome goes; anything would be fine.I am looking for the clear, honey-colored amber, not the other colors nor the opaque ones. I would prefer natural, good-quality stuff, since the pieces they are designed for will not be cheap (lots of intricate handwork).Initially I'm looking for maybe 2-5 for prototyping; if that goes well, I'll be buying a bunch more.Anyone have any suggestions? Please?
cabachon settings and especially the clear glass cabachons used to make this art jewelry?http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320157502270Sorry, I don't want to get in trouble for posting a picture of the item. I do not know if that would be bad to copy paste the picture or not. So I just thought I'd post the link.Several years ago I wanted to paint miniature pet portraits for people to be able to wear as jewelry but I am not able to get around so I was unable to learn of a resource for the settings and such. Now I see these type of necklaces on ebay and it makes me want to do my idea again.Still want a resource.Thanks:-)
I have another question, it seems that art is on my mind lately. I am giving my friend a painting for his birthday. I want to write on the canvas a sort of story of our friendship "Once upon a time there was... " and I want the story to "stick out" from the canvas, the letters to be kind of... pasty. Is there a sort of paste that I could use to make the words out of? I then want to paint over the letters in the same color as the color of the canvas so they blend in. What medium can I use for the letters? Thanks!Alicia
I have a question about shaping a canvas. I am not sure if this is the correct place to post, please direct me to another group if this is not the kind of post involved in this community. For an art class I am taking I am making a dress that will be made out of canvas. I want to paint on the canvas and also I want to be able to shape the canvas not only so that it will fit a body well but also because I want to be able to place abstract shapes randomly in the canvas. I doubt I am expressing myself well. The dress will have a tight bust and then a bottle shaped bottom(think Cinderella) and on the botton I want there to be abstract shapes popping out. It is a bit strange, basically is there a way that you can harden canvas, so that zou can shape it a particular waz and then it stays that way?Any advice grealy appreciated, Alicia

Please let me know if this is not allowed in this group and I will delete the post immediately. Thanks! I have just listing a painting I completed last summer on eBay. I need the wall space, but I hate having to part with it. It is HUGE. 4 X 6 feet on heavily braced stretched canvas. I used acrylic paint. Now because I am too retarded to figure out how to do the LJ cut properly with a widget, please go to my personal LJ post to view the picture and status.
